Celebrating Innovation at 'Spring! into 3D Printing'

On Saturday March 15, 2025, the Kent District Library's Grandville Branch transformed into a hub of creativity and learning during the 'Spring! into 3D Printing' event. Hosted in collaboration with the Grand River Makerspace, this gathering welcomed both novices and seasoned enthusiasts, offering a comprehensive dive into the world of 3D printing.

A Hands-On Introduction

The event kicked off with a beginner-friendly workshop from 12 PM to 2 PM, where participants were introduced to the fundamentals of 3D printing. For $10, attendees learned about the intricacies of the technology, from processing files to designing their own creations. This session provided a solid foundation for those new to the field, sparking interest and inspiring future projects.

Showcasing Creativity

Following the workshop, a free 'Show-n-Tell' session from 2 PM to 3 PM allowed participants to display their latest 3D-printed projects. This segment highlighted the diverse applications of 3D printing, showcasing items ranging from functional tools to artistic pieces. The exchange of ideas and experiences fostered a sense of community among attendees, encouraging collaboration and continuous learning. We are hoping to have more attendees from the community showcasing unique ways they are using 3D printing at future events but the weather was SUPER NICE so we get it!

Looking Ahead

The success of 'Spring! into 3D Printing' underscores the growing interest in additive manufacturing technologies. As accessibility to 3D printing continues to increase, such events play a crucial role in educating and inspiring the next generation of makers and innovators.

For those interested in delving deeper into 3D printing, the Kent District Library and Grand River Makerspace plan to host more workshops and events in the future. Keep an eye on their announcements for upcoming opportunities to explore this exciting technology.
