We're thrilled to share some exciting news: Grand River Makerspace has been selected as a Spring grant recipient by the Grandville Walker Foundation, receiving $2,500 to help enhance our community workshop right here in Walker, Michigan.
For a young nonprofit that only opened its doors in September 2025, this kind of local support means a lot. It's not just about the funding, though that certainly helps. It's a signal that the community sees the value in what we're building at 25 N. Park St., and wants us to keep going.
What This Means for GRM
At its core, Grand River Makerspace exists to give community members access to tools, technology, and workspace they wouldn't otherwise have. We're talking 3D printers, laser cutters and engravers, CNC routers, a full woodshop, UV flatbed printing, and more, all packed into 3,300+ square feet of shared space. Whether you're a seasoned maker or someone who's never touched a power tool, there's a place for you here. No experience required.
This grant from the Grandville Walker Foundation goes directly toward enhancing that workshop, which means better equipment, better access, and more opportunities for the makers, tinkerers, students, and everyday problem-solvers who walk through our doors.
A Space Built for Everyone
What makes a makerspace special isn't the machines. It's the people. GRM is a place where a retiree learning to laser-engrave sits next to a high schooler prototyping their first invention, where a small business owner figures out how to bring a product idea to life, and where kids discover that they can build the things they imagine.
Members join monthly or drop in per-visit, and hands-on classes run throughout the week. Every bit of it is designed around one idea: that access to tools and knowledge shouldn't be a barrier to creativity.
Thank You, Grandville Walker Foundation
We want to extend our sincere gratitude to the Grandville Walker Foundation for believing in our mission. The Foundation's commitment to supporting local projects that drive real change in the Grandville and Walker communities is exactly the kind of investment that helps organizations like ours thrive. Grants like this one ripple outward, reaching far more people than a single dollar figure might suggest.
