Hello Future Makers!

The Grand River Makerspace has been established with five board members and an inaugural meeting has been held on 02/18/2022. At this first meeting, the board has laid the groundwork for moving forward primarily focusing on getting a non-profit license started. We now have an attorney working pro-bono and getting the paperwork together for filing with the state and IRS. He is also actively searching for applicable grants.

We have four locations under consideration in the greater Grand Rapids area and are searching for additional options to suit our needs. If anyone has suggestions for a location or comes across a building that might be of interest, please let us know.

Insurance is still being researched; however, we have ballpark figures of between $2400 and 3600 a year.

We have had promising discussions with innovation leadership at GVSU.

From the start, we will have the following equipment: 3D Printer, vinyl cutter, miter saw, bandsaw, portable table saw, oscillating sander, CNC for wood, air compressor, soldering station, and a vacuum platform.

We have had over 80 individuals express interest in the Makerspace, to get a more accurate potential membership count please provide an email for updates.
